Student project for Good Notes by H Academy UX Bootcamp (Part Time)
We help students to have a better study experience with digital note-taking app.
Good notes is a digital note-taking app designed for students, this project aims to have a better understanding of their user, find out what problem they are facing while using the app, so that we can create a better experience for the user.

User feeling confused to navigate and find the right feature in GoodNotes
Why having this problem?
Base on the user research, we found out that there are lack of guiding of Good notes features, it cause confusion and inconvenience to the user. Most of the function user complain that GoodNotes does not provide, it already existing inside the app.

Teacher expect student know how to take notes without teaching them
Why having this problem?
As the focus group of our users are who in tertiary education, they want to take note effectively during the classes and create their own study material. Based on this scenario, there have a difference of how to taking note between high school and university. Lack of guiding and education of note taking doesn’t provide a clear concept and structure of how to write a proper note.
Need Statement
Good notes user who is in tertiary education needs a way to instantly understand the possibility of the app build-in feature so that they can take notes in a smarter way.
Ideation
Base on the insights, we joined an “Ideation card game session” to help us comes up with more ideas with diversity thinking.
Solution
New feature to unlock the full
potential of GoodNotes in lighting speed.
The new feature is a note taking guidance with various template focusing on different subject note taking style, but also infused tutorials session inside each template. It solving the problem of user feels confused to take a well-structured note and learning in app feature.
Final Product
Guiding users to learn about In-app features by also practicing note taking skills. First there is a “Tutorial folder”, it contains various note taking guidance pages which relate to different topics or subjects. Users can base on their learning preference to choose the guidance, so that they can take quality notes in speedy time by following the structure. Meanwhile, there is a “?” icon beside each subtitle. Let’s taps and pop up a “step by step” GIF introduction to teach In-app feature such as lasso tool, two screen mode and eraser.
Business Impact
Without this new feature, our user have to spend 20 minutes to watch YouTube tutorials.
Now, they only need 20 secords to learn a new tool inside the app.
